Milestones

Here's Dylan in the library, May 13, 2009.

4/15 Dylan learned to push himself up into a seated position. He then promptly grabbed hold of the side of his bassinet and pulled himself up! He fell back from the excitement & scared himself but got right up and did it again. There's something else he accomplished that day too... it will come to me.

At his 5 mo checkup he was 16 lbs and 26"
At 7 mo he was 17.5 lbs and 27"

He's been rolling over since 4 mo.
Sitting up (supported) since 5 mo.
Army crawling at 5 1/2 mo.
Real crawling at 6 1/2 mo.
He's begun slowly taking steps along the furniture now at 7 mo. but still doesn't know how to get back down once he's pulled himself up there!
Learned how to sit down from a standing position and stood up without holding on to anything at 7 1/2mo.
Cut his two front teeth (his first ever!) on May 14th.
He clearly (frequently) babbles mama, dada, and hey & hi since around 6 1/2 mo.
Began pushing food (or bits of paper & trash) a little after 7 1/2 mo.

And right now he's enthralled by the ear of the pooh bear on the foot of his jammies. :)

Hot & Sweet Breakfast Tacos

This is a quick and tasty meal inspired by opening up the fridge and wanting everything you see, and wanting it NOW. Lucky for me, it all went together wonderfully. I imagine you can substitute just about anything on the list to suit your tastes too... within reason. I'm sure some of your fridges out there might have some hideous combinations lurking within.

1-2 jalapeno, diced
1 med. onion, sliced
1 med. apple, diced
6-8 corn tortillas (depending on how full you like to stuff em!)
6-8 slices of ham (one per tortilla)
3-4 eggs
1/3 cup mozzarella (or mild cheese)
oil as needed
sour cream for topping

Saute the onion, apple, and jalapeno until softened and slightly browned.
Fry the ham slices and tortillas (together or separately).
Scarmble the eggs with cheese.
Assemble like a taco & top with sour cream.

Thanksgiving

We took a lot of photos this week of Dylan. We finally went up into the attic and looked through a big bag of clothes we have since he's outgrowing his newborn stuff now. We found the cutest stuff so we sort of played dress up... hehe. What a good sport he was about that.

We had a visit last weekend from Delmar and his girlfriend Amy. They're in the States traveling around in a pickup with a pop up camper and just driving around all over the place. Amy was wonderful & it was great to see Del again too. Most impressive factoid: she's training to run her first 26 mile marathon. That sorta blows my mind. Running just ain't my thing. Geez.

My stupid diet sort of worked to our advantage for once - we went out for Indian food the first night and made sushi at home the next. Yum! Lianna also had fun climbing on him like some sorta jungle gym. He didn't really do much to discourage that - except teach her some climbing moves to practice in the door frame, which she mastered a few days after they left & was rather proud of.

She's made me promise to take a short video of it, so I will have to post that soon. We went out for a chilly autumn walk through Freedom Park and I took a picture of Lianna's hair after we returned... holy mega-static!!! The photos really don't do it justice.

Thanksgiving was nice. We ate around 7pm - roast beef, not turkey. Nice change & much easier... For some reason Damon & I passed out promptly after dinner on the couch while Lianna watched Shrek the Third. And I thought turkey was supposed to make you sleepy! So after waiting all day until 7pm to call family & friends and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving, I passed out cold and didn't awake until midnight. Which is why I'm so wide awake now at 3am, blogging & editing photos. Oops. I really wanted to call everyone. You will have to be satisfied with blog + pix!

Love to all!

Super Dylan!

We dressed him in a blue bib like it was a cape and he rode around defending the city on my knees. Super Dylan - Defender of BABIES!!!

From people like this, I assume...

These are from about a week ago. He really enjoyed being nekkid in his bouncy chair. Even if he did pee himself about 60 seconds after I put him in it.

Nature Center Hike

Damon took Lianna to another nature center class about birds and then went out hiking and exploring with her this afternoon. They remembered to bring the camera this time and this is what they found....

Halloween

Lianna went as Darth Maul!

New Haircut

I snapped this one this afternoon as he was waking up from a nap.

And these two just now while they're both napping. And yes, the rumors are true... Damon cut off his damn lovely locks. I still miss em. But I like the new look too.
