I met Spencer of Pixelated Perceptions in Statesville to shoot these photos this past Tuesday. Wow, Statesville... what a weird redneck hick town. Like Buffalo-lite, architecturally speaking. Best part of the afternoon: When some bum tried hitting us up for change in the alley where water from an overhead gutter had been spraying me with its cool refreshing... wait, EW. Spencer started in with his "all I gots my camera..." shy thing so I jumped in and offered my hair brush and/or high heels (I did NOT walk around in those things people, I'm not that crazy. Somehow hot pink Crocs just didn't seem like the right "look"). He kept pushing us so I just kept insisting he'd LOVE my high heels... he finally took off heh.

And yesterday we all drove up to Yadkinville, NC to meet Amy, a midwife who's been delivering babies since I was 2 - that's since before the great state of NC saw it in their stunted "wisdom" to make midwives like her illegal. Wow. She was wonderful. Liked her a lot. She even delivers babies for the Amish and Menonites in her area (check out Yadkinville on a map - you'll see what I mean, the whole place felt very "PA" to me actually). She has this questionnaire she goes through with all of her clients. She asks basic stuff about health and family history. Then about smoking, alcohol, etc. She says she loves saying to the Menonites in their little bonnets stuff like "and you've stopped using the cocaine and crack now that you're pregnant too, right?"... just to see their faces go white. Haha, whatta lady.
I know it may be late in the game for me to be switching midwives but we had some issues lately with the original one that led to me basically flipping out and losing trust in her. Overall, Amy seems like a better fit for us too. I'm excited and happy about it. Hard to believe I'm just 2 and a half months away from having a beautiful little boy in my arms...
